In Yoga Now is an authentic classical school of yoga established in Los Angeles, by certified teacher and founder Dana Coman (aka Dana Sharada). In an effort to bring traditional hatha yoga to the world, this school has been established to transmit classical Hatha Yoga in its purest form.

Our teachers have been trained at Isha School of Hatha Yoga in Coimbatore, India by realized master, yogi, mystic and visionary Sadhguru Jaggy Vasudev.

The practices we teach have been passed for thousands of years with no distortions. They have the potential not only to heal someone from physical ailments, but it also has the capability to build a strong foundation for experiencing higher dimensions of life and states of consciousness.

Yoga in Relation to Panchakosha

The purpose of this article is to explain the relationship of ashtanga yoga and hatha yoga as described by Patanjali in relation to panchakosha. My intention is to explain to you how they come together and to give you example of my understanding regarding their relationship. First, I would like to explain what panchakosha is. “Pancha” means 5 and “kosha” means bodies or vehicles of consciousness. This figure provides you with a visual representation for clear understanding:

Before coming to the ashram, I thought meditation meant sitting in silence and coming up with possible solutions to current problems in my life. I was far from it, meditation being “the art of going within and experiencing the power and presence of God”, as Guruji likes to simply define it. I learned from him the desired result of meditation is to go outside the mind and body and experience your divine Self that exists in each one of us.

What is seva?

What is seva? "selfless service", work or service performed without any thought of reward or personal benefit. I learned Seva is one of the most profound and life changing of practices. However we chose to express our own unique seva practice, when we do so, we ultimately test our altruism and put our knowledge of the divine spirit into action. Seva can be as simple as providing directions to someone in need or as difficult as feeding and caring for hundreds of people in need.

If there's one word I'd use to describe Dana as a yoga teacher, it would be: authentic. And I don't say that easily. She's simply there to help transmit an incredible practice to you with an open heart. I did the Surya Kriya workshop with her, and came away not only touched by her dedication but also inspired to do the practice every day. If you get a chance to attend a class, workshop, or retreat with her, I highly recommend it.

Yoga has entered in my life after following Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's posts and blogs on Facebook. I was looking for more durable source of happiness.  I found that daily successes and happiness was short lived and my soul wants more. Then  I took inner engineering course by ISHA yoga, which made me interested in more simple way of life. I wanted more and that is where Dana Coman introduced Surya Kriya to me and my husband. Surya Kriya is a subtle practice of yoga that changes oneself to the deep core. I find that each posture of Surya Kriya is so calming and act of going into a posture is a beautiful experience that is beyond the words to describe. I hope to continue and deepen my practice of Yoga with time.
